Paper C maps the validation programme for respiratory-device batteries: ISO 80601-2-69 essential performance for concentrators, the runtime-by-setting and altitude test matrix, FDA classification context, IEC 62133 cell safety, UN 38.3 and airline evidence, and aging for a device patients depend on away from hospital.

The battery test is inseparable from gas performance. Runs cross every pulse setting or continuous flow level (the published table spans, for example, 5.4 h at setting 1 to 1.5 h at setting 6), ambient temperature, simulated altitude — compressor workload and sieve-bed efficiency both change as air density falls — and respiratory rate for pulse-dose synchronisation. Each run records oxygen purity, delivered bolus/flow accuracy, time to low-battery alarm and time from alarm to delivery failure. Aged packs at 80 % capacity repeat the critical settings, because the marketing runtime must remain safe at end of life. For mesh nebulizers the equivalent matrix covers nebulisation rate over the treatment cycle and battery voltage at piezo resonance.

IEC 62133 validates short, overcharge, forced-discharge, mechanical and thermal cases for the chosen chemistry; NiMH's controlled-vent behaviour is especially attractive in a device worn against the body and used on a crowded aircraft. UN 38.3 (altitude simulation, thermal, vibration, shock, short, overcharge) is mandatory for shipment, and passenger-air use requires accurate Wh marking and instructions consistent with the 100/160 Wh spare-battery limits.
POC packs are deeply cycled daily and exposed to body heat and summer car temperatures, which accelerates fade. Development combines cycling at the real setting profile with elevated-temperature storage to project when runtime at the patient's usual setting falls below their longest planned outing — the clinically meaningful end-of-life point, not an abstract 80 %. NiMH nebulizer cells fade gradually over 500–1000 cycles and are trivially replaced, supporting a simple service model.
Weijiang Power supplies NiMH cells and custom respiratory packs with IEC 62133-1 and UN 38.3 evidence, matched cells and support for ISO 80601-2-69 runtime validation. Send your setting-dependent power table, altitude target and runtime claim and we will engineer a pack that preserves oxygen performance to the declared limit.
